Since 1981, Joel Simon has been a free-lance travel writer
and photographer. He has also worked in the travel industry in multi-faceted
capacities that include itinerary design and implementation, and
tour management. As frequent staff member on group programs lecturing
on travel writing and photography, he has participated in over 100
land, ship, train and plane based programs with Zegrahms, Smithsonian,
World Wildlife Fund, Abercrombie & Kent, Travel Dynamics, High
Country Passage, Harvard Museum of Cultural and Natural History,
and the Stanford Alumni Association Travel/Study programs, among
others. As a free-lance photographer and veteran writer in the travel
industry, he has published articles on Bonaire, Mexico, the North
Pole & Siberian Arctic, Papua New Guinea, India, Spain, Thailand,
and Vanuatu, and has traveled in over 100 countries worldwide.
Joel Simon Images is a stock agency handling the outstanding
collection of travel images produced by Joel Simon. Joel spends
approximately five months each year abroad on assignments resulting
in over 200,000 35 mm transparencies representing over 100 countries
and destinations.....at last count.
In the collection, major visual themes include general scenic shots,
a diverse wildlife portfolio, graphically strong architectural images,
underwater wildlife and scenics, and a broad range of portraits
of native peoples. Joel's images frequently appear in brochures,
catalogs, cards, and calendars. Featured on our site are images
from Stanford University.
